Being here, together, is like nowhere else. And people rarely want to leave.
It seems to be a naturally fertile space where fresh ideas, new connections and creativity in all its forms thrives. And it’s a good place to restore your wellbeing.
It’s where you quickly feel at home and have the confidence to step out and explore.
And we just love gathering people like you together to do amazing things…
Over the years we’ve had ad hoc events.
For 2020 we’re launching a fresh programme including rural creatives, introduction to podcasting, writers retreats and painting with words and light, a collaboration for photographers and writers.
From time to time we also host collaborative conversations – either on behalf of an organisation or because we believe there’s an interesting problem to explore.
Sue has developed particular expertise and an enviable reputation for designing and hosting these kinds of events and her clients have included:
- Royal College of Physicians, London
- Swansea University
- CHI+MED – an EPSRC funded research programme across UCL, Queen Mary’s and Swansea University
- Karl Storz

Organising scientists has mischievously been likened to herding cats, because it is notoriously impossible. Sue Heatherington helped me organise and run two of the most effective scientific meetings I have attended: fifty top international people worked together, thought in new ways, and were inspired to carry on working together after the event. Sue planned the meetings meticulously, but also had the professionalism on the day to seamlessly adapt and transform the activities to enable the meeting to exceed all expectations in quality, networking and in generating unexpected powerful ideas. Perhaps most impressively, she got people to work very hard, in new and sometimes challenging ways, and to enjoy the experience immensely.”Prof Harold Thimbleby, Swansea University
Sue is also an experienced executive coach and works with individuals here at The Waterside, and elsewhere.top
